Abstract

In a method of producing plastic-improved concrete articles a mould is coated with one or more layers of a hardenable plastic compound, and before it or the last applied layer sets a moist concrete mortar is introduced into the coated mould and subsequently consolidated and dried in known manner. Preferably the plastic compound consists of synthetic resins based on polyester and epoxy resins to which setting agents, stabilizers, pigments and the like have been added. A layer of sand may be applied to the plastic compound before it has set. A lost mould may be used, inserted in a rigid mould or the die of a press, and this lost mould is removed from the surface of the article, just before it is used.
