Abstract

910,434. Centrifugal separators. ACCESSORIES CO. Ltd. March 21, 1961 [Nov. 3, 1960], No. 10287/61. Class 23. A centrifugal air cleaner comprises a cylindrical casing 1, swirl-producing helical blades 6 extending between the casing and a central core member 4 having its portion 11 downstream of the blades substantially identical to the internal shape of the vortex imparted to the air by the blades 6 and an outlet pipe 3 extending into the casing and having a frusto-conical flange 14 at its inner extremity. Air to be purified is supplied through inlets 2 and caused to rotate by the blades 6, the dust &c. particles thrown against the casing wall by centrifugal force passing through the space 15 between the flange 14 and the casing wall to an annular collector space 16 while the purified air is discharged through the outlet 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, a number of cleaners according to the invention are arranged in parallel and have a common inlet 18, a common clean air outlet 19, and a common dust &c. collector 20.
