Abstract
909,292. Power take off. HOUGH CO.. FRANK G. April 11, 1961 [July 21, 1960], No. 12996/61. Class 79(2). In a drive arrangement for two auxiliaries. one auxiliary is permanently coupled to the engine by a drive arrangement to which the drive arrangement for the other auxiliary may be selectively coupled. Both auxiliaries may be fluid pumps for hydraulic equipment. As shown, a housing 12 is secured to the case 10 of an engine and has secured thereto hydraulic pumps 16 and 23, the pump 16 being driven by a shaft 15 upon which is secured a gear 14 in constant mesh with an engine-driven gear and gear 21. The pump 23 is driven by a shaft 27 upon which is secured a gear 30. An idler gear 22 may be brought into mesh with the gears 21 and 30 whereby both pumps are driven, the shaft of gear 22 being movable about the axis of shaft 15, or, as shown, being mounted for axial movement, the shaft 32 of the gear being attached to a handle 37 which moves in a radial slot in a curved plate 33 attached to the housing 12 and being held in the engaged and disengaged positions of the gears by engagement of the spring-loaded handle portion 39 with widenings at the ends of the slot.
