Cleaning and/or wringing apparatus for mops includes wringing-mechanism comprising a pair of wringing rollers 24 arranged so as to be movable towards and away from one another, a support 28 formed for the attachment of a mopback thereto and so disposed in relation to the rollers that when the rollers are separated by an appropriate distance and the mop-back is attached to the support the fringe of the mop will lie between the rollers, means by which the rollers can be moved away from one another and also moved towards one another to grip the fringe at a point adjacent the back (see Fig. 5), and means whereby the support 28 and the rollers 24 can be moved relatively to one another to draw the fringe between the rollers to expel liquid and collected material therefrom into a receptacle 10 disposed below the rollers. As shown, the apparatus comprises a rectangular tank 10 of moulded plastic fibreglass which is divided internally into compartments 13, 14, 15 by partitions 16, 17, the compartments intended to contain, respectively, detergent solution, rinsing water, and liquid and collected material expelled from the mop. Compartments 13, 14 are provided with a perforated squeezing trough 18 formed by a shelf 19 of fibreglass material extending across the compartments and spaced by a narrow gap 19<SP>1</SP> from the partitions. A number of perforations may be provided. Two tubular supports 21 lying on opposite sides of compartment 15 are secured to struts 20 and carry at their upper ends roller-supporting plates 22. The two rollers 24 are supported in slots 23 by their spindles 25, the ends of which extend through the slots 23 and are engaged by cam slots 26<SP>1</SP> in cam plates 26 pivoted to the upper ends of supports 21. The two cam-plates 26 are connected to a handle 27 so that by swinging the latter backwards and forwards the two cam-plates can be rocked simultaneously to move the rollers 24 towards and away from one another. The support 28, which is provided with a pair of hooks 31 arranged to engage lugs on the back of the mop is carried by vertical rods 29 slidable in supports 21 and is moved relatively to the rollers 24 by means of a foot lever 33 connected to the lower ends of the rods 29 and pivoted at 32. Each compartment has a drain hole communicating with a common outlet pipe or each is connected to a flexible outlet pipe releasably secured to the top of the container.
