Abstract

906,301. Aerials. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. May 26, 1961 [May 28, 1960], No. 19118/61. Class 40 (7). For unbalance to balance transformation and impedance matching between a coaxial feeder 4 and a folded dipole 1 formed of metal tube, the cable is inserted into the tube at the electrical centre 5 of the dipole to a predetermined length, its outer conductor soldered to the dipole (at 5 and 6), and its inner conductor 7 soldered to another conductor 9 coaxial with a portion of the tube forming an extremity of the dipole. The tube portion forming this extremity is a second tube 4 joined by a sleeve 12 to the remainder of the dipole. The conductor 9 extends through a sealing insulator 13 at the extremity and is connected at 14 to the other end of the dipole. The tube 4 is approximately #/4 in length and may contain insulating discs to support conductor 9, this and the discs being proportioned to match the impedance of the feeder to that of the dipole.
