Abstract

904,492. Shearing. GALE, W. E. July 4, 1960 [April 19, 1960], No. 13622/60. Class 83 (4). A shears for severing sheet by slot-cutting comprises a frame having a web 2 not greater in width than the slot cut, so that portions of the sheet at each side of the slot may pass the frame without distortion as the sheet is advanced to extend the slot. The web 2 connects the upper blade mounting 3 to the base 1 which supports adjustable lower blades 16-18. A pivot 4 between side plates of the mounting 3 carries a beam 5 supporting a blade 6 with a tapered work-guiding tooth 20. Operation of the blade 6 is by a lever 12 connected by a link 8 to the beam 5. Strippers 23 are located above the sheet.
