Abstract

904,428. Turbine and compressor stator blade assemblies. ESCHER WYSS A.G. Sept. 25, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 32714/59. Class 110 (3). In a stator guide blade assembly for an axialflow machine, such as a turbine or compressor, a circumferentially-extending stiffening and vibration damping band is rigidly secured to the guide blades at points which, with respect to peripherally-adjacent blades, are disposed at different distances from the axis of the assembly. In the stator guide blade assembly of an axial-flow compressor shown, the blades 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP> are inserted between inner and outer rings 1, 2 and the blades are interconnected by means of a band 6 which is notched at 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, 711 along one edge, the notches engaging the leading edge portions of the blades and being secured thereto by welding. The band 6 is of undulating form and is secured to the blade 3 at a radius R 2 from the axis, to the blade 3<SP>1</SP> at a radius R 1 from the axis, to the blade 3<SP>11</SP> at a radius R 2 and so on, R 2 being greater than R 1 . In Fig. 3, the band 6 is of circular form of radius R, but the centre M thereof is displaced from the axis of the assembly O by a distance a whereby the band is secured to adjacent blades at different distances from the axis of the assembly.
