A pair of liquid e.g. fuel filters in series, each have a casing 2, 3 housing a hollow concertina type filter element 4, 5 of synthetic resinimpregnated sheet filter material e.g. paper sealed to metal end caps 6, such that in element 4 the liquid flows from the inside outwards, any particles of water coalescing on the outside of the element and dropping into the bottom of the casing 2, and in element 5 flows from the outside inwards. The lower end caps 6 are each mounted on a rubber or like washer 12 on a spring 11 in the casing.
