A circuit module comprises a pair of spaced parallel dielectric boards, the edges of which are provided with a plurality of peripherally-spaced slots, so that the extending leads of individual components may be press-fitted into opposed slots of the board and subsequently soldered to thin conductive layers secured to the board and adjoining the slots. A wafer 11 of epoxy impregnated paper board has formed around its periphery a plurality of slots 12 which may be variously shaped, Figs. 2, 3, 4, 5 (not shown), and carries on one or both surfaces a printed circuit 13; some of the slots being surrounded with a land 14 of conductive material bonded to the board 11 but not interconnected with the printed circuit 13. As shown in Fig. 6, two wafers 11 are held vertically in position by supporting pins 34 engaging with holes 33 in a base 32 of jig 31. An electronic component 35 having oppositely extending leads 36 is positioned in opposed slots 12 of the boards 11 and press-fitted into the slots by a spring-loaded centre-punch 37 having a modified tip 38, the various forms of the slots enabling different diameter leads 36 to be secured to the boards 11. The module is completed, Fig. 7, by assembling additional components in adjoining slots in a manner similar to that described for the component 35, around the four edges of the boards 11; the module assembly then being removed from the jig 31 and dipsoldered.
