Abstract

902,632. Electric gas igniters. HORSTMANN GEAR CO. Ltd. Dec. 8, 1960 [Dec. 8, 1959], No. 41664/59. Class 75 (3). An electric igniter for a gas burner comprises a filament 10 mounted within an apertured sleeve 5 detachably carried in a nozzle 2 on the igniter body 1, and a cylindrical cap 17 attached to the nozzle 2 and surrounding the sleeve 5. The cap 17 has a central hole 18 in its end wall and a number of helical slots 19 in its cylindrical wall, the slots 19 being positioned to overlap the apertures 9 of the sleeve 5. An insulating block 6 mounted within the sleeve carries a pair of conductive posts 7, 8 for the filament 10, and a central spindle 12 which is electrically connected to one post 7. A switching member 13 slidable on the spindle 12, is operated by a trigger 16 to make contact with the central electrode of a dry battery 3 housed in a casing 4 attached to the igniter body 1. The igniter may be supplied with combustible gas. Specifications 714,386 and 902,634 are referred to.
