Abstract
901,881. Thermal switches. TAYLOR, E. H. April 21, 1959 [May 2, 1958], No. 14104/58. Class 38 (5). A switch has a two-part casing containing terminals whereby the switch may be connected to an external circuit, the case defining a lead in for a conductor of said circuit, the part of such conductor within the casing being in proximity to the thermal element so as to act as a heater therefor. In Fig. 1, the switch parts 5 are arranged in a space bounded by walls 6, 7, with gaps for the passage of terminals 10, 12 to which conductors 16, 17 may be connected, the conductor 16 encircling wall 6 so as to heat the parts 5. The switch space is covered by a metal plate 8 having a U-shaped part 9 in which the conductor 16 lies so as to improve the heat transfer. A cover 3 is secured by screws 4. In a modification, Fig. 3, the switch parts are carried by a plate 20 and can be slid into a casing formed by wall 6 and a cover 8, the main cover 3 being apertured at 28 to receive cover 8.
