A roof bar 2 having an apertured forked end 4 is secured to a locking tongue 5 projecting from the head-plate 3 of a prop by a wedge 7, the member 5 being slotted at 6 to receive the wedge 7 and having a nose 9 acting as a swivel bearing-surface.
