Abstract

900,267. Bearings. GRACIA, L. V. Dec. 22, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 44038/60. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group VIII] A roller is supported at each end by a bearing comprising a bronze bush 4 surrounded by a spiral spring 6 housed in a support 5. Electrical contact rings 8, 11, mounted on insulating rings 14, also surround the bush 4 and the contact rings 8, 11 have terminals 9, 12 connected by wires to a signalling device. Radial displacement of the roller causes engagement of the contact rings 8, 11 so that the electrical circuit is closed and the signal is given. Each bearing has an end cover 15 thereon. The roller comprises a series of replaceable roller sections connected by a metal shaft 1. Each section has an inner metal tube 16 surrounded by a core of resilient material 2 having an exterior layer of synthetic plastics material thereon. One of the bearings may be replaced by any conventional bearing which allows lateral movement of the shaft.
