Abstract

The composition is formed by dissolving, in an aqueous milk of an alkaline-earth base, a resin of the novolak type. It has the property of precipitating the resin on treatment with carbonic acid, CO2 or SO2, and can be used to bind together particulate material, e.g. sand. When used as a binder, 4-15% by weight, based on the resin, of a curing agent, e.g. hexamethylenetetramine, may be added. Specification 899,775 is referred to.
