Abstract
899,080. Root crop harvesters. SHOTBOLT MACHINERY DEVELOPMENT Ltd. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959], No. 32248/59. Class 6(3). [Also in Group II] A harvester, Figs. 1 and 2, includes a separating device S (see Group II) in the form of two or more turntables for separating the crop from stones and earth &c., and has a chassis comprising longitudinal members 19, 20, vertical members 22 and cross members 23 propelled by a partially dismantled tractor T. The latter has its steering wheels removed and the rear wheels 9 of the harvester are stearable from the driver's seat. The crop &c. is lifted by ploughs 1 between discs 2 and carried rearwardly by an elevator 3; it is then discharged through a haulm separator 4 to a transverse conveyer 5 through which some of the earth &c. falls to the ground. The remainder of the aggregate passes to the lower end of an elevator 6 and then fed to the separator 5. Potatoes or other root crop are fed from the separator to a conveyer P, and the stones &c. are discharged to the ground. The lower portion of the elevator 3 is pivotally mounted on the upper portion to move upwardly and downwardly, and is adjusted by the hydraulic lifting gear 29 of the tractor via a pivoted lever 30 which carries a horizontal rod 32 engaging in jaws at the outer ends of the side frames of the elevator. The conveyers and the separating device are driven from the engine of the tractor unit via chain and sprocket drives. Specifications 780,805 and 899,081 are referred to.
