Abstract

The invention comprises 5a - acetylthio - cholestan - 3 one and 5a - acethylthio - 17b - propionyloxy-androstan-3-one, and the preparation of 5a -acylthio-3-oxo-steroids by treating 3-oxo-D 4-steroids with alkyl thiolic acids, e.g. at room temperature and/or in the presence of an organic peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide. In the examples the two compounds referred to above are prepared.
