Abstract

896,664. Stud and socket fastenings; clips; cotters. WHITWORTH GLOSTER. AIRCRAFT Ltd. Nov. 21, 1960, No. 39886/60. Classes 44 and 89(2). [Also in Group XXX] In the combination of a pin 4, a support 2 therefor and a retaining clip 6 by which the pin is held from rotational and axial movement relative to the support, the pin has an end portion 9 of non-circular cross-section, adjacent a portion of circular cross-section extending radially beyond the end portion, there being a radially extending shoulder 10 between the two portions, the support has adjacent an edge thereof, a hole 3 for the pin, and the clip 6 is of U-shape for fitting astride the edge of the support 2, one limb of the clip having a circular hole 7 therein to receive the adjacent portion of the pin and the other limb of the clip having a non-circular hole 8 therein shaped to receive only the end portion 9 of the pin, there also being movable means on the clip for restraining the clip from axial withdrawal of the pin from the support and the clip. As applied to a roller conveyer in which the pin 4 supports a freely rotatable roller 5, the movable means on the clip is provided by an integral spring tab 11 projecting into the path of the spindle 4 and engaging the latter as the spindle is inserted through the holes in the limbs of the clip.
