The stator core 12 of an electric motor is supported by end-rings 24 secured to the core by through rivets or by metal strips (neither shown) welded in position across flats on the outer surface of the core, these end-rings being located by spigots 28 on the motor end-covers 29. The spigots are tapered at 32 for ease of assembly, and the end-rings may have corresponding conical surfaces.
