Abstract
894,941. Soil breakers. DOUBLE J. BREAKER CO. April 6, 1959, No. 11544/59. Class 107 A soil breaker comprises a flat generally triangular plate 22 which is attached at its apex 23 to a clevis 16 provided on the lower end of the shank 11 of a rooter or ripper 10. The attachment allows limited pivotal movement about connecting pin 17. The plate is further supported on a heel 34 which is attached to a member 29 depending from beneath the plate 22. The base of the heel runs on undisturbed ground at the bottom of the trench cut by the tooth 12 and sharpened edge 13 of the rooter and the angle formed between the heel base and the plate 22 may be adjusted to determine the angle with respect to the base of the trench which the plate assumes as it is drawn through the ground. The leading edges of the plate 22 are bevelled.
