Abstract

894,865. Nailing-machines. BACKLUND, M., LARSSON, S., and KIHLBERG, G. Nov. 13, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 38606/59. Class 89(3) [Also in Group XXV] A nail comprises a shank with a point 2 at one end, a head 3 bent at right-angles at the other, and an intermediate bulged portion 4 of V- or arcuate form extending further than the head. The nail is for use in a nailing machine having a guideway 5 formed with a bulge 11 at the position where the nail is inserted, thereby holding the nail at this position. A driving blade 7 drives the nail down causing it to be straightened somewhat, and the shank portions adjacent the point and head are initially angled, so that when straightened, the shank enters the work at the desired angle thereto, e.g. right-angles. The blade 7 is attached by a neck 8 to a part 6 sliding in a separate guideway 9, and a slot 10 in the bottom of guideway 5 accommodates the neck 8. The nail is supported by opposite walls of guideway 5 throughout the driving.
