Abstract

894,059. Electric selective signalling systems. SOUND DIFFUSION (SALES) Ltd. Jan. 23, 1961 [Oct. 21, 1959], No. 35703/59. Class 40 (1). A system for transmitting the value of a pressure to a remote station includes a mercury manometer B and spaced contacts E1-E6 corresponding respectively to pressures of 6-1 p.s.i., contacts E2, E4, E6 being connected through a resistor RX, RY, RZ to the same terminals of a uniselector CS1 as contacts E1, E3, E5. The wiper of CS1 scans the contacts in the direction shown by the arrow and relay M operates when the first terminal which is marked with a positive potential is reached. If this terminal carries the full positive potential relay SA operates when contact P1 is subsequently closed and contacts SA1 open to prevent relay M from operating again. If the first marked terminal carries a low positive potentialdenoting that the highest immersed contact is E2, E4 or E6-relay SA does not operate when contacts P1 close, so that relay M is again operated when CS1 steps to the next terminal, this being at the full positive potential so that further operation of M is then prevented. Contact M1 controls a verbal announcement unit which is arranged to transmit a verbal message over lines PL to indicate the pressure. When M1 is operated twice, two successive messages are transmitted, e.g. " 6 p.s.i." followed by " 4 p.s.i.", this being interpreted as " 5 p.s.i." Specification 868,768 is referred to.
