Abstract

893,793. Jigging conveyers. LOBEN Ltd. Oct. 9, 1958 [July 9, 1957], No. 21694/57. Class 78 (1). A device for feeding electric lamp filaments in single file from a loose assemblage to a point where they are picked up singly by a vacuum arm and conveyed to the electrodes comprises a basin 1, Fig. 2, mounted on a vibrating table 17 and having its wall formed with a channel 6 for the filaments extending spirally around it, the channel being of a cross-section which diminishes towards its upper end so that when nearing the top, the filaments are compelled to move in single file. A ridge 18 on the bottom 2 directs the filaments on to the bottom portion of the channel. The channel terminates at a vertical surface 4 formed by a raised part 5 of the basin. A hole 7 formed in the part 5 forms a continuation of the channel and leads to a filament feeding device 10 comprising a horizontal platform 11 over which a flat slide 12 is reciprocated by a piston-rod 15 connected to a piston in an air cylinder 16. As each filament is fed through a hole 14 on to the platform 11 it is pushed by the slide 12 towards the edge of the platform where it is picked up by a vacuum arm (not shown).
