A bleed valve comprises a body 1 having a fluid escape passage 5 and threaded to screw into an opening in a fluid-pressure apparatus and a valve 9 controlling a bleed orifice in the apparatus, wherein by unscrewing the body and relieving a spring 14 between the body and valve, fluid pressure opens the valve and decreases to a value determined by the load on the spring and by screwing in the body a portion 15 thereof abuts and positively closes the valve.
