Abstract

892,816. Protective cut-out arrangements. ROTAX Ltd. July 10, 1959 [April 11, 1958], No. 11533/58. Class 38 (5). An arrangement for protecting a three-phase motor comprises a capacitor Y and a pair of resistors R1, R2 connected in series between two phases, a rectifier MR1 connected between the star point N of the motor and the point S between the resistors, and a relay RL1 connected across the rectifier. The values of the capacitor and resistors are such that under normal conditions S and N are equipotential points, but in the event of an open circuit, short-circuit, phase reversal or earth fault, a potential difference occurs between the points and the relay RL1 is operated. The rectifier may be a full-wave rectifier, Fig. 2 (not shown). If the supply is earthed, the capacitor Y may be connected to a terminal K1 so that an earth fault can be detected. The relay RL1 may close the circuit for a warning device or automatic control means.
