Abstract

892,093. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. EVERED & CO. Ltd. April 16, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 12651/57. Addition to 828,435. Class 135. A safety device as claimed in the parent Specification is positioned in the supply pipe 11 common to a plurality of burners 10, 25, and a timing valve 44 also controls the device or an additional cutoff valve for one of the burners through its thermallysensitive ignition device. Gas at 11, Fig. 1, passes a combined diaphragm cut-off and regulating valve 16 to a stove burner 25 and an oven burner 10. If either of the pilot ignition burners 27, 35 fails, bimetals 28, 36 open valves 29, 37, allowing inlet gas at 22 to act via 17 on top of the diaphragm 13 and close the valve. The ignition devices will not ignite the burners unless a timing device 42 has closed a valve 44 since the normally open valve 44 allows inlet gas at 22 to pass via pipes 47, 48 and 17 to the top of the diaphragm 13 to close it on seat 31. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, burner 25 is only under the control of the ignition device 27, 28. Burner 10 is controlled by a main gas valve 52 operated by a bimetal 56 heated by an ignition burner 59 which is only supplied with gas via valve 44 opened by the timing device 42, the ignition burner 59 being ignited by a permanently burning pilot 63 or a flash tube 65 from the pilot burner 27. The pilot burner form of ignition device may be replaced by an electrical filament, an electrocatalyst or a cold catalyst.
