Abstract

892,089. Drying bristles. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. Feb. 11, 1960 [Feb. 14, 1959], No. 4824/60. Class 34(2) Animal bristles are prepared for manufacture by being boiled in a compartment 3 before being packed into conical open-ended cells 11 which are subsequently secured to the ends of radial arms 5 of a rotating wheel device which carries them into a drying compartment 2. The device, which comprises tubular members 6, 5, 4 interconnected such that hot air fed to the hub 6 eventually passes axially through the sleeves, is connected to a compressed air cylinder 8 and heater 9 by piping 10. The air, which is at 0À5 to 1 atmosphere above atmospheric, is heated to about 90‹C. and the device rotates in a time-30 to 40 mins.- which ensures that the bristles are dry and can be removed from their cells before the latter reenter the compartment 3
