Abstract

890,245. Roller mills. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. Sep. 21, 1960, No. 30321/60. Class 59. [Also in Group VIII] A hay conditioning machine comprises a roller assembly which is characterized in that one roller comprises a substantially cylindrical body of resilient material and the other roller comprises a series of radially extending blades adapted to deform the resilient roller body radially inwards concurrently with passage of crop material between the rollers. As shown, the body portion 5 of the upper roller 3 is formed by a series of resilient discs 7 and the shaft 16 of the lower roller 4 is provided with radially extending blades 18. The rollers are yieldably biased towards one another, and may be initially separated. In a modification, the blades are helically arranged. The assembly may be arranged so that the bladed roller is the upper roller.
