Abstract

890,234. Tomographic apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 12, 1958 [June 15, 1957], No. 18808/58. Class 98(1). Tomographic apparatus comprises a start contact 1 connected in the energizing circuit of a relay having a first relay contact 4 in a circuit controlling the swinging movement of the X-ray tube 9 and the cassette holder 10, and a second relay contact 5 connected in a circuit controlling the X-ray tube current; and a stop contact 6 connected in series with the contact 1 and also in series with a relay holdon contact 3 connected in parallel with the start contact, the apparatus being arranged so that the start contact is automatically operated mechanically when the X-ray tube and cassette carrier are in the start position shown, the consequent energization of the relay operating contact 5 in the X-ray tube current circuit and contact 4 to start the swinging movement of the tube and cassette carrier, while the relay is maintained energized via hold-on contact 3 and stop contact 6, the latter being opened to de-energize the relay and the circuits controlled by it when the tube and carrier reach the final positions as indicated by 9a for the tube. An over-ride switch 7 may be provided in the relay hold-on circuit. The tube and carrier may be returned from the final to the starting position either by hand or by electrical means.
