889,507. Shores. JOHNSTON BROS. (CONTRACTORS) Ltd. and BONE, A. B. Aug. 27, 1959 [June 20, 1958], No.19886/58. Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXX] In an adjustable strut or prop comprising two members 10, 11 movable axially relatively to one another by screw means, at least one of the members is provided with a socket 12 or 13 which accommodates a wooden distance piece 18. In one form, Fig. 1, the screw means comprises a threaded member 16 which engages both strut members 10, 11. In another form, Fig. 2, one member 20 is screwed at 23 and receives a threaded sleeve 25 which co-operates with a pin 31 arranged in one of a number of holes 30 in the other member 27. In a further form, Fig. 3, one member 33 which is rotatable by a cranked arm 43 is screwed into the other member 32. The member 33 is provided with a foot-piece 49 instead of a socket and distance piece. The distance piece may be adjustable in its socket by means of a wedge.
