Abstract

889,455. Ridge tents. BLENKHORNE, R. Aug. 19, 1960 [Aug. 20, 1959], No. 28432/59. Class 20(1) In a collapsible ridge tent, a rectangular ground frame has end frames jointed to the shorter ends 15 thereof, each frame comprising a lower section 18, 19 jointed, Fig. 6 (not shown), to a roof truss section 23, 24; the apices of the roof sections being interconnected by a ridge pole jointed at its centre; and the longer sides of the ground frame are jointed at their respective centres; whereby the roof and lower sections of each end section may be folded flat upon the ground frame which may then be folded in two about its transverse axis. The framework may be of light tubular metal. Fabric roof and walls of the tent are secured to the framework by tapes. A ground sheet may be stretched over the ground frame and secured thereto. Frames, intermediate the end frames, may be provided for additional rigidity, Fig. 8 (not shown). The two portions into which the longer sides of the ground frame, and also the ridge pole, are divided may be connected together, each by a coil spring; and a sleeve, arranged to slide over the spring, engages the two portions to hold them in rigid collinear position when the frame is erected, Fig. 9 (not shown).
