Abstract

887,099. Nozzles. SCHOBERG, B. L. Jan. 22, 1960, No. 2401/60. Class 69 (3). [Also in Group XXII] Loose particles 13, e.g. cuttings, are removed from a cavity, e.g. a drilled blind hole, by directing a central stream of compressed-air into the cavity and surrounding the central stream with a screen of compressed-air to obstruct or direct the particles dislodged from the cavity. The stream and screen are supplied from a nozzle 1 attached to a compressed-air line 2 and fitted with a leveroperated valve 3. Air passes through holes 6 via a chamber 7 to a passage 8 in a tip 5 to provide the central stream, and to bores 9 leading to an annular opening 11 to provide the screen which preferably is directed at about 45 degrees to the stream. The tip is adjustable relatively to body 4 to vary the intensity of the screen.
