Abstract

886,898. Shoe polishing kits; polishing pads. JOHNSON & SON Inc., S. C. Nov. 2, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1960], No. 37638/60. Classes 19 and 138 (1). A shoe polishing kit comprises a polish container 11 having a removable cover 10 and a polish applying device 21, comprising a dauber 23 secured to a hollow member 22 for holding a buffing cloth 25. The side wall of the container 11 has an outwardly flaring lip 16 which co-operates with an annular indentation 12 in the cover 10 to effect an air-tight seal, and a sealing foil 20 extends across the top of the container 11. The cover 10 has detents 15, 15a, for engaging a locking ring 14 on the container 11. The latter also has an annular indentation 17 which serves primarily as a cleaning element to remove loose polish from the edge of the dauber on its removal from the polish container, and it is also provided with internal projections 18, 19, 30 and 31 which prevent movement of the polish relative to the container when the dauber 23 is rubbed on the polish.
