Class 20(3) In a venetian blind arranged with the slats vertical so that they can be drawn aside like a curtain, each slat 3 is supported at the top by a carrier 6 Fig. 1, 2 and 3, sliding in a guide channel 2 secured to the top 1 of the window aperture, and at the bottom by a three-pronged piece 37 pivoted in a link 40 of a series of links pivotally connected end to end, the slats being held in spaced relationship by a ladder web 8 secured at the ends to a vane_23 frictionally coupled to the shaft 22 of a pulley 20 driven by an endless cord 2 passing around another pulley 18 driven through gearing by a tilt cord 17. The stationary end slat 3B is supported at its upper end from the vane 23 and the forward movable slat 3D is secured to a master carrier plate 34 secured in one side of the endless cord 2. In the case shown where the blind divides centrally into two oppositely movable parts, the forward moving slat 3c of the other portion is secured to a master carrier plate 21 included in the opposite side of the endless cord 2. The brackets of the carrier plates of the forward slats 3C, 3D have curved pieces 36, 35 Fig. 2 respectively which engage each other when the slats are tilted to the closed position. The amount by which the slats can approach each other is limited by stops 41 Fig. 3, on the links 40 and the tilting movement of the slats is limited by a stop 47, Fig. 1 contacting the vane 23.
