Abstract

Thermoplastic heat-hardenable products are obtained by reacting 1 mol. of an epoxy compound containing substantially two epoxy groups per molecule with 0,3-1,1 mol. of a saturated aliphatic primary monoamine of the formula R-NH2, where R is an alkyl or hydroxy-alkyl group of at most 6C. Long lists of suitable epoxy compounds are given including epoxidized dienes, epoxy esters and epoxy ethers; the Examples use reaction products of epichlorhydrin with bis-phenol A or resorcinol. Similarly long lists of suitable amines and hydroxyamines are given, including di- and tri-hydroxy amines; in the examples there are used n-propylamine, n-butylamine, ethanolamine and 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propane-diol. The reaction products may be drawn into filaments, cast in moulds, or granulated for injection moulding, the following additives being specified: Al, glyceryl monostearate, glass fibres, wood meal, cork meal, asbestos, quartz, Bolus alba, chalk and graphite.
