884,427. Sewing. BRITISH QUILTING CO. Ltd. April 26, 1960 [April 27, 1959], No. 14204/59. Class 112 [Also in Groups VIII and IX] Quilted multi-ply fabric is made by feeding to a quilting sewing machine at least a top ply of non-elastic textile material and another under ply of an elastic material under tension, and quilting these plies together to produce a pattern of parallel lines criss-crossed to form diamonds or other enclosed shapes, whereby the resiling of the elastic material after quilting produces a lift of the non-elastic material in each zone defined in the pattern of the quilting. As shown, outer non-elastic sheets a, c and an inner sheet b of foamed resilient plastic, stretched about 25%, are quilted together by lines of stitching d.
