Abstract
883,114. Testing pressure gauges. BARNET INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 5, 1959], No. 377/59. Class 106 (2). Equipment for testing vacuum gauges comprises a cylinder 10 adapted for connection to the gauge 4 under test, a plunger 11 depending from the open end of the cylinder and freely slidable therein, a weight pan 12 carried by the plunger 11 and valve controlled means 6, 8, for connecting the cylinder 10 to a source of vacuum and for bleeding air into the system respectively. In use a vacuum gauge 4 to be tested is mounted on a pillar 3 which is connected to the cylinder 10. A vacuum is applied to the system through a line 6 and suitable weights placed on the pan 12. When the pan 12 can be spun freely and lies between marks 20 on a post 16, the pressure in the system can be calculated from the total weight of the piston 11, the pan 12 and the weight applied to the pan, and so the reading on the gauge 4 can be checked. A second pressure gauge 14 is used to give an approximate indication of the pressure in the system. Specification 693,283 is referred to.
