883,004. Valves. SANDOY, P. April 30, 1959 [May 7, 1958], No. 14840/59. Class 135. [Also in Group XXI] A number of pressure containers 1, Fig. 1, e.g. in a fire-extinguishing system, each embodying a valve 5, Fig. 2, are connected to a common pipe 3, Fig. 1, each valve having an inlet 4, Fig. 2, from its container and an outlet 2 leading to the common pipe. A movable closure member 7 is connected to a threaded hand-operating shaft 8 by a two-part member 9 held in the position shown by a spring- loaded piston 14, below which is a chamber 20 open to the outlet 2 via flats or grooves on the member 7. Upon manually opening any one of the valves the pressure fluid from its container enters the outlet 2 and chamber 20 of each of the other valves to elevate each piston 14; upon each piston flange 15 contacting flanges on the associated member 9 the two portions thereof are swung apart at the lower end to release the closure member 7, each one of which is then unseated by the pressure of fluid in the container. During transportation a loop 21 is used to prevent movement of the pieton 14 and hence opening of the valve; when the valve is in position the loop is placed in the casing holes 22 and acts as an indicator of the valve position. The valve is provided with a frangible disctype safety valve 24. Isolating valves 27, Fig. 1, may be used so that the number of containers 1 connected to the outlet 28 can be varied as required.
