Abstract
882,013. Cam mechanisms. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. April 3, 1958 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 467/57. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XXX] A series of cams C1-C5 have corresponding camifollowers F1-F5, the followers being pivoted on output shaft 4 to which each of them is coupled by abutment members 5, 6 having lost motion between them. Member 6 is secured to follower F3 and member 5 is secured to shaft 4. Also, follower F3 is biased clockwise by weight W3 and shaft 4 is likewise biased clockwise. In operation thrustor T3 is energized to swing follower F3 anticlockwise into engagement with cam C3 and, at the same time, to " overtake " the lost motion and to swing shaft 4 likewise anticlockwise. The apparatus is thus set and, when the swelling 14 of cam C3 raises the follower F3 the shaft 4 is permitted under its bias to swing clockwise to operate a switch in a winch control.
