[Also in Group XXII] A welding arc between a stationary electrode 4 and a workpiece 5 on which it lies is extinguished at a predetermined point by a control circuit which is energized when the arc reaches a conductor 3, held against the electrode at the required point, but insulated from it. The arc completes a circuit from the workpiece 5 through a relay 8 which de-energizes a contactor 7, thus interrupting the welding current at 9. Manual stop and start buttons are also provided.
