Abstract

881,864. Portable conveyers. MOY, P. C. D. Jan. 6, 1958 [Jan. 14, 1957], No. 1400/57. Class 78 (1). Portable conveying apparatus for use in unloading railway waggons comprises a wheeled chassis 10 and an endless elevating conveyer 13 supported at its upper end on the chassis, the conveyer 13 having a horizontal feed portion 14 supported by a pair of wheels 16 and a steeplyinclined elevating portion discharging into a hopper 32 of a bag-filling apparatus 33. A feeder conveyer 22 is carried on a horizontal frame 21 which is supported at the discharge end on a turn-table 25 carried by the portion 14, and has the feed end supported by a pair of wheels 26. The wheels 26 are retractable so that the feed end of the frame 21 may be supported instead by a wheel 31 journalled on an axis extending longitudinally of the conveyer 22. The conveyer 22 may then be slewed across a rail track across the end of a waggon to be unloaded. The waggon is unloaded either manually or, preferably, by tilting the waggon. The material may be caused to pass to a conveyer 34 instead of to the hopper 32 by swing- ing the conveyer 34 about a horizontal axis between an out-of-use position and a position in which it receives the material from the elevating conveyer 13.
