In a diversity receiver for radio telegraphy, at least two aerials 1, 1<SP>1</SP> are connected to respective amplifiers 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, the gain of each being regulated in accordance with their combined A.G.C. voltages; and the output of each amplifier is fed through a respective limiter and a filter 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, tuned to a harmonic of the amplifier output, to an evaluating device 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. Each limiter 3, 3<SP>1</SP> comprises oppositely connected rectifiers adjustably biased to a predetermined threshold value, and the ninth harmonic of the amplifier output is passed by a filter to a modulator 4, 4<SP>1</SP> where it is converted to a lower frequency and then fed to a discriminator 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. If the combined signal plus noise output from any amplifier is less than the threshold value of its associated limiter, no harmonics will be selected from that amplifier. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the modulator outputs are combined and fed to a common evaluating device; each modulator being fed from respective oscillators one of which is frequency controlled by a phase comparison device to ensure that the modulation outputs have the same frequency and phase.
