Abstract

A shaped part comprises a Ziegler polyethylene of molecular weight above 500,000 and includes a resilient inlay. It is preferred that the resilient inlay is of chrome leather and the molecular weight of the polyethylene is above 1,000,000. The shaped part may be a loom picker, the inlay being in the zone of the picker which receives or imparts the shuttle stroke. The part may be made by compressing finely divided Ziegler polyethylene in two or more stages, the second and subsequent stages being accompanied by heating, followed by forming the shape, providing an opening, inserting the inlay therein and heating and compressing the shape. The opening may be closed by welding.
