A scraper bar for a scraper chain conveyer of the kind in which spaced transverse scraper bars are coupled at their ends to parallel - driven chains comprises a bar of uniform rolled section, such as bull-head section, Fig. 8, or channel section, Fig. 11, which is strengthened over the central part of its length by welding to one or each of the front and rear faces of the bar a separate reinforcing member of uniform cross-section, such as members 17, Fig. 8, or 20, Fig. 11.
