Abstract

881,000. Cathode-ray tube mountings. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 7, 1958 [Aug. 28, 1957], No. 27045/57. Class 40(7). [Also in Groups XX and XL(b)] The lens turret 21 of a television camera is provided with an enlarged aperture 28 (Fig. 3) which, when aligned with the tube opening in the casing 11 and when a door member 38, hingedly supported by the casing at 37, is opened (downwardly) allows the tube 13 to be inserted in or removed from the casing. A closure member 29 (which may be apertured to receive a further lens) is secured to the turret by means of large knurl-headed screws 30 to allow of easy manual release and the configuration of the door 38 is such that it can only be opened when the aperture 28 is aligned with the tube opening and the closure member 29 removed. The tube 13 is contained in a casing 48 which is supported in a housing 43 (mounted for movement in known manner to allow focusing to be effected) by means of a flanged ring 49 and the focusing coil formers 50 and 51. The rear end of the tube is supported in a saddle 58 spring urged towards the flanged ring 49 the tube being retained in position by a cup 65 (which may carry an additional deflecting coil) supported at the forward end of the casing 48 by means of bayonet catches. The casing is provided with a door 15 through which a connector 72 (for effecting connection to the various terminals of the tube) is accessible for disconnection when it is desired to remove the tube. A tell-tale lamp may be mounted behind the door 38 the light from which is visible through a light transmitting jewel 41.
