Abstract

880,466. Piles. MULLER, L. Feb. 23, 1960 [April 6, 1959], No. 6326/60. Class 68(2). A pile comprising a shoe 2 of greater crosssection than the shaft 1 has a collar 4, 5 displaceably located on the shaft. The collar has a packing 6 which engages the shaft, and carries a tube 3. The pile is driven into the position shown in Fig. 1 by means of a. driving tube 7 which is then removed. The shaft is then driven to the position shown in Fig. 4, cement being simultaneously ejected from apertures in the lower part of the shaft, or. in the shoe, to fill the cavity behind the shoe. A tube 9 is finally fitted about the shaft, the annulus so formed being filled with cement. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the tube 3 is attached to the driving tube and is removed therewith. The pile is suitable for underwater foundations. Specification 880,467 is referred to.
