880,257. Recording inks. POSTMASTER GENERAL. Feb. 13, 1958 [Nov. 15, 1956], No. 35014/56. Class 146(3) A writing or recording fluid consists of at least 50% by weight of ethylene glycol, the remiander being water and a dye. The fluid can be stored for long periods in a recording instrument without deterioration and without the necessity for cleaning or removal. The amount of glycol is increased, e.g. to 90% for inks to be used in hot, dry places. In normal conditions of temperature and humidity it may be about 75 % and in hot, humid places 50-70 % may suffice. A red ink contains 76 % ethylene glycol, 20 % water and 4% rosin. A blue one containes 77% ethylene glycol, 20% water and 3% Polar Blue RAW.
