879,137. Stacking bricks. MASCHINENFABRIK BUCKAU R. WOLF A.G. Jan. 21, 1959 [Jan. 21, 1958], No. 2232/59. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for stacking bricks on a trolley comprises a series of grippers, mounted on an endless conveyer, which remove bricks from a brick forming press and deposit them on the trolley or'stack. Bricks are moulded in groups of three by the press 1 and deposited on a rotary table 1d which conveys them beneath the gripper conveyer 3. Each gripper, operating by vacuum (see Group XXX), is depressed against spring means by a plunger 36 as it comes to rest over a group of bricks and rises with the group before the next conveyer movement. As a group of loaded grippers comes to rest over the trolley 9, the entire group is depressed by vertically reciprocating means 46, 47 to deposit a row of bricks as determined by photo-electric means 48, 48a. The trolley is supported on a wheeled carrier 7 which moves intermittently along rails 6 so that successive rows may be deposited to form a layer. The carrier 7 has a platform 8 supporting the trolley on rails 8a and this is lowered in steps to receive successive layers. The controls (not detailed) may be arranged to produce a stack tapering towards the top. The filled trolley is finally pushed off the carrier on to rails 17a aligned with the rails 8a.
