Abstract

878,572. Wash basins. LOTHERINGTON, B., and TESSEYMAN, H. D. July 24, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 24324/58. Class 26. An ablution unit for a vehicle comprises a water supply tank 6 equipped with a heat exchanger 12, supplied by the vehicle's equipment, with an opening 7 for admitting cold water and a delivery tap pipe 8 having a tap 9 communicating with a wash basin 10 which, in use, is located wholly below the tank 6 to which it is hinged so that when not in use it can be turned upwardly for stowing and thus enclose the tap 9. Preferably the heat exchanger 12 consists of a U-tube with an inlet 15 controlled by a manually-operable valve 19 and outlet 16, and the wash basin 10 is hinged to tank brackets 35, a dowel 30 thereon cooperating with a resilient catch 32 on a side of the tank 6 for stowing, and has a waste outlet 11 with a waste pipe 28. It may be clamped in either of its optional positions. Also, the opening 7 communicates with a coaxial supply opening 21 in a duct 22 having an opening 27 and arranged to be pivotally-stowed in a compartment formed by the top 25 of the tank and a panel 24 to which the duct 22 is pivotally connected. The unit can be connected to a vehicle by adjustable brackets 20.
