Abstract

878,406. Copying documents. RITZERFELD, W., and RITZERFELD, G. Aug. 13, 1959 [Sept. 23, 1958], No. 27704/59, Class 100(2) In a rotary duplicating machine for both whole page and line by line printing from a master sheet 2 on a rotary drum 1, two moistening devices are provided to obviate the effect of evaporation of moistening liquid from a copy sheet held stationary during rotation of the drum immediately prior to printing a particular line from the master sheet. During whole page continuous printing of copy sheets 14 the sheets are moistened only by a roller 15 engaged by a felt strip 21 urged by a spring 22 towards the roller 15. When line by line printing is to be effected an additional moistening device comprising a felt strip 27 is rocked towards a roller 16, over which the sheets 14 are fed, by a cam-actuated lever 30. The roller 15 is spring urged towards a roller 16 driven by a counter pressure roller 4 through chain wheels 36, 37 and a chain 38.
