Abstract

877,964. Collectors. TOURTELLIER, M. Jan. 26, 1959, No. 2739/59. Class 38 (1). A cruciform rail 1 for a monorail installation has conductors 6 mounted on either side of the lower part of the centre rib by means of insulating blocks 7 drawn together by bolts 8 to grip the rib between them. The conductors do not project beyond the edges of the cross-piece 3 which forms the track for the running wheels 4 of collectors 5 and load-carrying trolleys. The blocks 7 may also hold in position an inverted T-shaped track 10 for the driving wheel of a self-propelled trolley. Alternatively, such track may be welded to the rail 1 or formed integral therewith. In another construction (Figs. 5-7, not shown) the conductors are enclosed in flexible sheaths on either side of the centre rib of the rail, such sheaths having a narrow slot along which a collector arm of a trolley moves and opens out the sheath as it progresses and allows the sheath to close again behind the trolley.
